The India’s Got Latent controversy involving Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina has sparked a heated debate, with several celebrities criticising their actions. However, actress Akansha Ranjan Kapoor has come forward in their defense, questioning why lawmakers remain silent on more serious issues like rape and bribery. She expressed frustration over selective outrage, pointing out that issues such as hazardous air quality, pothole-related deaths, pay inequality, bribery, and oppressive taxation receive little attention.
Akansha Rajan Kapoor on Ranveer Allahbadia case
Following their remarks on the show, the Maharashtra Police filed an FIR against Ranveer, Samay, Apoorva, and the show’s makers. On Wednesday, Akansha took to Instagram to share her views, reposting an update about the case against them. Along with the post, she wrote, “I think I’m losing my mind. So, marital rape is acceptable? Any and all rape is acceptable?” She further questioned how serious social issues could be ignored while moral controversies received immediate backlash.

Uorfi Javed on the same
Earlier, Uorfi Javed had also defended Samay Raina, stating that although the comments made on the panel were distasteful, imprisonment was an extreme response. She argued that disliking someone or their statements should not warrant a jail sentence. She also reaffirmed her support for Samay, saying she had his back while maintaining that others on the panel also did not deserve such severe consequences.
The controversy arose when Ranveer posed an inappropriate question to a contestant on India’s Got Latent, leading to widespread backlash. Following the criticism, Ranveer apologized and urged the makers to remove the offensive segments from the episode. The episode also featured Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and Jaspreet Singh. Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) released a statement demanding strict action and an immediate ban on the show. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis stated that freedom of expression has its limits, while Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi promised to raise the issue in Parliament.
